Qualifications: Wits (SA) BSc (Computer science and Applied Mathematics), BSc Honours, and Master of Commerce (Information Systems). Wits Business School (SA) in Executive Development Programme obtained in 2005.
Thanyani is a seasoned Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Consultant with extensive leadership experience spanning over 25 years and running large and complex deployed ICT resources (people, processes, technology, finance) in many geographic locations in SA, bigger African continent, USA and Australia.
He has held several executive leadership roles in SA private banking institutions, the majority of which was at Absa and Standard Bank. He spent few years in SA PFMA regulated institutions at executive board level. Internationally he worked as a principal consultant in many states in the USA, and Sydney Australia.
Independently, he spent several years as an advisor, mentor and coach of several startups ICT companies. He helped these small and medium-sized ICT businesses to put technology strategies to expand their value offering to diversify income streams in private and public entities, leveraging relevant cloud variants (IaaS, PaaS or SaaS), setting partnerships with relevant IT OEMs in the ecosystem; for system integration, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, multi-cloud strategies, data management and analytics, AI and general machine learning and ICT Governance instruments.
