Job Specification: Group Financial Manager
Location: Melrose Arch
Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Job Overview: The Group Financial Manager at RH Bophelo Limited is a critical leadership role responsible for the organisation’s financial planning, management, and reporting. You will work closely with the CFO and executive team to ensure financial stability, compliance, and strategic decision-making across the company’s healthcare investment initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Planning:
- Responsible for developing and approving operational Budgets for all investees, including Capex, and communicating the authorised budget to the business.
- Assist the CFO in presenting the budgets to the ARC for approval.
- Allocate adequate funds to avoid crisis management and ensure the smooth running of business units.
- Develop Group Annual budgets with 5-year projections.
Financial Management:
- Manage financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems.
- Periodically review and calculate balance sheet provisions.
- Verify and review monthly accounting entries.
- Oversee the completion of VAT returns and all other statutory returns.
- Review all balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain the general ledger.
- Monitor cash flows and forecast future trends.
- Ensure compliance within the group.
- Improve cash flow cycles.
Financial Reporting:
- Assist with report writing on financial data as required.
- Coordinate and support the audit process.
- Present financial reports to the executive team and stakeholders.
- Consolidate monthly results, budgets, and forecasts.
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts and ensure comparisons to budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare quarterly reports and ad-hoc financial reports as requested.
- Prepare financial statements and meet JSE reporting requirements.
- Measure business performance against projections in the financial plan.
Corporate Finance:
- Conduct business valuations and financial analyses, market research, and capital market and cost of capital analyses.
- Develop extensive financial models in Excel.
- Determine appropriate valuations of investment projects through detailed analysis (e.g. discounted cash flow method, earning-based method, IRR, payback period).
- Conduct annual and interim year-end valuations for ARC & Investment Committee approval.
Control and Governance:
- Continuously supervise and review internal controls to ensure monitoring of financial risk.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities and conduct reviews and evaluations.
- Liaise with auditors and stakeholders on financial data development and its impact on operations.
- Monitor and report on operations’ management of financial risk.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and legislation.
- Participate in the establishment and maintenance of financial policies and procedures.
- Mitigate financial risks and standardise processes throughout the business.
Education, Experience & Professional Licensing
Essential:
- Minimum NQF Level 8 qualification in finance or accounting.
- Registration as a Chartered Accountant with 3 years post articles.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in finance as a senior manager in corporate finance or a related industry.
- Driver’s license and ability to travel.
Preferable:
- Understanding of the private equity industry in South Africa.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Programmes (Excel).
- Proficiency in the English language.
